Abstract

906,606. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Oct. 22, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1958], No. 35800/59. Class 38 (1). A restricted entry socket comprises a metallic tubular body 10, Fig. 1, formed at one end with portions 14, 15 to receive a conductor and its insulation and slit at 18, at the other end to form resilient tongues 16 for engaging a mating pin contact and a restricted-entry non-expansible pin-receiving adapter 12 demountably secured to the free ends of the tongues by tongue projections 22 which engage in adapter slots 26 and hold it against shoulders 52. The adapter may have longitudinal slits at one end (Fig. 5, not shown) to facilitate mounting. The socket is inserted in a bore with a reduced portion in an insulating housing 53, Fig. 4, and held therein by projections 22 and body portion 17 engaging shoulders 40, 42 respectively in the housing. The socket mates with a pin contact 30 connected to a cable receiving rear member 55 by thin resilient strips 56 having chamfered elements 36 for locking it in a housing.
