Abstract

1360896 Two-part couplings ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 29 June 1972 [6 July 1971] 30409/72 Heading H2E A connector comprises a socket portion 12, Fig. 1, and a plug portion 14 each attachable to a flexible lead and provided with strain relief arrangements consisting of inter-engaging screw threaded parts 22, 24, Fig. 2, the latter having a tapered part 86 split at 88 and engaging an internally tapered part 78 of the member 22 to compress the part 86 on to the cable. The end part of the member 22 is slotted for flexibility and terminates in stepped portions 64 which can be selectively removed as required to fit a particular cable. Each part of the connector has an earthing sleeve 26 with a connecting tag 102 and an insulating member 28, carrying pins or sockets as required, all secured to the member 24 by a screw 34. The socket portion has a resilient latching member urged outwardly by a spring 186 and carrying a tooth 200 engaging a notch 118 in the earthing sleeve 26.
