Abstract

1,217,588. Two-part couplings. SPERRY RAND CORP. 16 April, 1968 [20 April, 1967], No. 17780/68. Heading H2E. A self-aligning connector comprises a base member 20 (Fig. 6) containing sockets 32, 34, 36, 38 connected to conductors 40 &c. and having a forwardly extending peripheral wall 48 formed on its inner surface with axial bosses 50, 52, 54, 56, which align with cut out portions 84, 86 &c. on flexible fingers 66, 68 &c. carried on the base 62 of the mating plug. The fingers carry prongs 124, 126, 128, 130 connected to conductors 134 &c. which fit the sockets. A central spigot 58 assists correct alignment. Projections 60, 144 on socket and plug provide a visual aid to alignment.
