Abstract

922,729. Electric couplings. BELLING & LEE Ltd. Dec. 8, 1961, No. 43970/61. Class 38 (1). An electrical connector for a tape conductor has an electrical insulating support 1 for the tape and an insulating support 13 for the contact element 28, such that when the two supports are secured together the spike formed at one end of the contact element penetrates the insulation on the tape and, due to the resilience of the backing pad 31, a good electrical contact with the tape conductor is ensured. There may be a row of contact elements and these contacts may be in the form of plug pins or sockets. The two insulating supports are secured together by means of two screws and two hexagonal nuts which fit in hexagonal holes in the support 13. The nuts have at one end projections 24, 25 of trapezoidal cross section which can each assume one of six orientations and it is necessary for similar projections on a mating member to be complementary before engagement of the plug and socket can occur.
