Abstract

858,692. Jacks and plugs. SPOORWEG SEIN INDUSTRIE N.V. Sept. 26, 1958 [Feb. 14, 1958], No. 30848/58. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XXXVI] In an electric plug-and-socket connector two contact members 7, inserted at opposite sides of partition 2 in an opening passing through socket body 1, make contact with arm 16 of resilient members 14 and two contact members 7<SP>1</SP> on opposite sides of partition 20 of the plug make contact with arms 17 of the members 14. Each contact member 7 of phosphor bronze has lugs 8, 9 pinched to grip the sheath and core of conductor a, and a resilient tongue 10 the end of which snaps into shoulder 11 of partition 2 to hold it in position. Openings 3, 4, have a constriction which engages shoulder 12 of member 7 to hold it resiliently. Resilient contacts 14, facing each other in space 13 are held by tongues 14<SP>1</SP> pressed against ridges 18. The contact members 7 inserted in the top of the socket are similar to those forming part of the plug. The bodies of both plug and socket may have a series of such openings formed side by side for any number of cables.
