Abstract

1499926 Connector for flat cables DU PONT DE NEMOURS (NEDERLAND) BV 29 Sept 1975 [7 Nov 1974] 39809/75 Heading H2E A contact device for connecting the cover of a flat cable 13 to, for example, the conducting strips 19 of a circuit board 8, comprises a housing 1 provided with channels 2, one for each core of the cable, in which channels contact elements 3 each having at the front end a pair of contacts 4 adapted to pierce the cable insulation and embrace the cable core 14 and at the rear end a pair of resilient contacts adapted to grasp the edge of the circuit board. In use the elements 3 are pushed from a first inoperative position (Fig. 1) in which they are held by a lip 9 snap fitting into a hole 10 in housing 1, to a second contacting position in which they are held by the lip 9 engaging a second hole 11 (Fig. 3, not shown). The rear end of the housing 1 and elements 3 may be formed on pins or sockets for pin and socket connections.
