Abstract

1,181,450. Two-part couplings. AMP Inc. 29 Dec., 1967 [19 Jan., 1967], No. 59033/67. Heading H2E. [Also in Division E2] A housing for electrical contacts 20 comprises a top section 12, a bottom section 14, and a plurality of intermediate sections 16, apertures 34 in the sections providing a passageway for an N-shaped clip 42 which has an integral strap connecting two parallel, resilient legs 44 with projections 50 for engaging shoulders 40 in the apertures 34 of sections 14 and 16, and with flanges 48 which extend beyond sections 12 and 14 to hold the sections together. Sections 14, 16 have a plurality of transverse, parallel channels 17 with shoulders 26, 24 which engage respectively the end 21 and an integral lance 22 of a socket contact 20, which may be removed from the housing by depressing the lance 22 with a tool 32 passed through a slot 30. The sections are chamfered at 28 to form lead-ins for plug-contacts, e.g. on a printed circuit board.
