Abstract

A longitudinally slit contact socket of non- circular cross-section is shaped from resilient sheet metal so as to engage a rigid circular pin tangentially at three circumferential points. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the socket 1 is of oval or triangular cross-section, the side walls being divided into pairs of tongues 4 by transverse slits. These tongues do not meet, except in the case of the pair nearest to the insertion end, when they overlap to form a closed ring which may be flared outwards. Fig. 3 shows additional resilient tongues 14 which are bent outwardly and these may serve to anchor the socket in an insulating panel.
