Abstract

784,912. Two-part couplings. AMP, Inc. March 22, 1955 [March 24, 1954], No. 8305/55. Class 38 (1). A plug connector consisting of a tubular contact portion 6 and a resilient sleeve 8 fitted thereon is retained in an aperture 2 in a socket 1 by means of a detent 4 on the latter which projects into the aperture and engages a groove 20 in sleeve 8. The forward end of sleeve 8 has a ramp 22 formed thereon to facilitate its riding over detent 4, and the flexibility of this portion of the sleeve is also increased for this purpose by spacing it at 21 from the contact 6. Internal shoulders 12, 15 on sleeve 8 co-operate with a shoulder 11 and flared outer end 14 of the contact 6 to retain these parts together, a lead 24 having been secured to the contact by indentations 26.
