Abstract

842,891. Two-part couplings. BURNDY CORPORATION. Oct. 25,1956 [Nov. 4, 1955], No. 32506/56. Class 38(1). A socket contact comprises a tubular body 10 having a wire-connecting portion 12 at the rear thereof and a spring tongue 16 extending through a slot 26 in the wall of the body and formed integral with a cup-shaped member 18 which is attached to the mouth of the body and has a guiding aperture 20 for a pin. The spring tongue and cup-shaped member may be formed integrally with the body (Fig. 3, not shown). Fig. 5 shows another construction wherein the spring tongue 16b is formed integrally with the body 10b and a separate cup-shaped member 18b is press fitted over the body to enclose the tongue. Several tongues 16c, Fig. 6, may be provided by slotting the end of the body, these being enclosed by a cup-shaped member 18c which is peened over a bead 32c to secure it in position. Alternatively, Fig. 7, spring tongues 16e formed on member 18e may extend in through the mouth of the body 10e.
