Abstract

1287703 Two part couplings BUNKERRAMO CORP 24 Feb 1970 [7 May 1969] 8694/70 Heading H2E A contact unit, 11 (Fig. 1), to be supported within an insulated body 14 comprises a resilient spring contact 16 (Fig. 2) with a shaped free end 26, 27, 28, 33 and walls 22 and 23, (24, Fig. 7) which protect the contact 16 from being overstressed by limiting vertical and lateral movement respectively. The tab 32 holds the contact in a stressed position and a reinforcing rib 34 may be included. The contact unit 11 (Fig. 1) is releasably retained in the body by the detent 43 and the projection 41 formed in the contact locating either side of a stop 42 formed in the insulated body, tool 45 being used to depress the detent to release the contact. A terminal 12 is formed at the end of contact body. A connecting lead may be crimped to 12, wings 37, 38 holding the conductor and 39, 40 holding the insulated covering of the wire. Electrical contact between the spring contact and a plug pin 20 is obtained when the latter is inserted into the insulated body in passage 15. The contact may be formed out of one sheet metal pressing and the walls 22, 23, 24, preferably extend beyond the contact element 16.
