Abstract

1,246,037. Electric couplings. H. W. SCHNEIDER. 4 Feb., 1970 [13 Feb., 1969], No. 7895/69. Heading H2E. A contact assembly comprises a tag 1 with an elongate rectangular slot 4 formed in the tag, a tang 5 extending at right angles to the plane of the tag from the inner end of the slot 4, and a flanged sleeve 9 which is of the correct size to fit over the tang and a conductor 7 when inserted through the slot so as to lie against the tang. The tang 5 and the slot 4 are formed by a pressing operation on an unslotted tag blank. The tag blank (Fig. 3) has a square part which receives the conductor and a curved part which forms the contact to for example a switch. In assembly, the conductor is inserted in the tag and the sleeve 9 positioned. The sleeve is then crimped with for example a punch so that the cable is held in electrical contact with the tang (Fig. 3) and prevented from being withdrawn.
