Abstract

1,120,894. Two part couplings. AMP Inc. 27 June, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 28684/66. Heading H2E. The base of a socket connector extends integrally from-crimping and insulation gripping sections 4, a tongue 14, which is struck out of the base, and the free end 11 of the base being rolled inwardly to define a socket for receiving a contact blade 6 arranged perpendicularly to the crimping section 4. One side edge of the base is partly bent upwards to form both a detent 20, which engages a shoulder 22 in a housing 1, and a stop for the inserted blade 6, the remaining side edge portions being bent downwardly to form stiffening flanges. Edges of the base surrounding the tongue 14 are bent downwardly to define bowed contact surfaces (8<SP>1</SP>) (Fig. 4, not shown) on the base.
