943,328. Making electrical components; sheet metal joints. AMP Inc. Sept. 25, 1962 [Sept. 27, 1961], No. 36355/62. Headings B3A, B3J and B3L. [Also in Division H2] A connector for connecting a conductor 26 to an electrically conductive foil 20 comprises a tab 22 for connecting to conductor 26 and a blade bent over to form two parts 12, 14 for receiving foil 20 between them, the blade having a series of tangs 16 for penetrating foil 20 when parts 12, 14 are pressed against each other with foil 20 between them, tangs 16 in one part 12, 14 being opposed by dimples 32 in the other part 14, 12. Dimples 32 are surrounded by grooves 34 for deflecting the points of tangs 16 so that they bend back on themselves. In a second embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the connection between the connector and the conductor is made by the end of part 12 being rolled up to form a pair of staggered crimping ferrules.
