Abstract

868,438. Aerials. BELLING & LEE Ltd. July 31, 1959, No. 26302/59. Class 40(7). A rod or tube aerial element I is mounted, for example in a socket on a receiving set, by means of a fitment consisting of an insulating sleeve 3 dimensioned to receive the end of the element and wholly integral with a branch portion 5 surrounding an electrical contact member of the plug or socket type. As shown the lower end of the sleeve 3 is closed and aligned holes 2, 4, and 6 are provided in the tube end and the fitment so that a conductive pin 7 can be passed through both to secure them together. The pin has a lead 8 at one end and a plug electrical contact 9 at the other. A nut 11 co-operating with a central threaded portion 10 retains the pin in place. The branch portion 5 includes a skirt part 17 surrounding the plug 9. The fitment may be made of nylon. It is intended to co-operate with a socket having a central conductive connector surrounding and making contact with plug 9 and an outer sleeve fitting over start 17. It is stated that in prior constructions the start 17 has been a separately formed metal sleeve moulded into, or otherwise secured to the main insulating part of the branch portion 5.
