Abstract

578,576. Two-part couplings. ERICSSON TELEPHONES, Ltd., and MELTON, H. J. Nov. 3, 1944, No. 21561. [Class 38 (i)] A contact-plug comprises coaxial contact rings 2, 3, 4, insulatedly mounted on a central rod 5 which terminates in a contact tip 1. The body 11 has holes for the angularly-spaced conductors 14 which are each secured to a ring and insulated from the other rings, e.g., by sleeves 15. The conductors 14 are provided with soldering loops 16 near an insulating post 13 engaging the body 11 and tightened by a nut 6 to lock the assembly together. The cable conductors are anchored in channels in the post 13 which is slotted to receive a soldering tag 19 for the tip 1, the tag being secured by the nut 6. The plug co-operates with a socket Fig. 4, having spring contacts 24, 25 projecting into a recess 23 in the body 20 to engage the rings 2, 3, 4 of the plug. The spring 25 has a tongue 26 to contact and lock the tip 1 of the rod 5. An insulating post 22 has slots 29 receiving the cable conductors. The Provisional Specification refers to a jack co-operating with the plug.
