1282403 Two-part couplings HARVEY HUBBELL Ltd 14 Jan 1971 1851/71 Heading H2E In a plug or adapter comprising a body 11, a cover 12, three projecting pins 13, 14, 15, and two contacts (21, 22, Fig. 2, not shown) inside the body, which are connected to the line and neutral pins and are adapted to accept a cable cr the pins of a two-pin plug such as an electric shaver plug, the third pin 15, which enters the earth contact of an electric supply socket, is made of a non-metallic, preferably plastics, material, e.g. nylon, or a thermosetting material of adequate strength and rigidity. It may be fixed into the body by means of a screw (25, Fig. 3, not shown) or by thermally upsetting a cylindrical projection (27, Fig. 4, not shown) on the end of the pin which passes through a hole in the body. Alternatively the pin 15 may be moulded integrally with the body (Fig. 9, not shown) or it may have a head with flanges (29, 30, Fig. 6, not shown) which is gripped between the body 11 and a projection (33) on the cover 12. The pins 13, 14, 15 may be either round or rectangular. The contacts (21, 22) inside the entries 16, 17 accept the pins of electric shaver plugs of British, American or Continental pattern. In an alternative embodiment there are no entries 16, 17 and an opening is provided in the body, at the end remote from the third pin, for a two-wire cable the conductors of which are connected to the contacts.
