Abstract

967,014. Two-part couplings. WARD & GOLDSTONE Ltd. Aug. 8, 1963 [May 25, 1962], No. 20133/62. Heading H2E. A fused 3-way adapter in which the sockets are arranged on one face at the corners of a triangle, the opposite face carrying a set of contact pins behind one of the sockets, has its sockets formed from sheet-metal shaped as channels closed at one end by integral lugs riveted to the appropriate connector which connectors comprise brass stampings 13, 19, 23, 25 and 30 separated by moulded ribs 12, the live connector comprising at least two parts, 13 and 19, linked by a fuse, 17. In one embodiment the adapter provides two 13-amp. sockets 20-27-32 and 21-28-33 and one 5-amp. socket fitting either a two-pin (40-41) or threepin (24-29-34) plug. The connectors are held in place in the base by an insulating plate formed with openings opposite several of the sockets, the fuse-links being fitted externally of this plate. The sockets may be shuttered as described in Specification 812,890. The sockets will accommodate a round or flat pin. In a second embodiment the two sets of 5-amp. sockets may be replaced by a single 13-amp. set.
