Abstract
746,000. Two-part couplings. HELLERMANN, Ltd. April 2, 1954, No. 9771/54. Class 38 (1), A plug and socket connector comprises a shell b, Fig. 1, for securing to a panel and having a tapered mouth b<SP>1</SP>. A resilient groinmet a having passages in which are gripped pins i secured to conductors h is shaped to fit inside the shell and is compressed therein by a ring c screwing on to the shell, the grommet being located by a screw f and being provided with a handle g to facilitate its removal. An intermediate insulating member is secured within the shell and carries combined sockets k and pins for co-operating respectively with the pins i and sockets in a counter member on the other side of the panel. In alternative constructions the pins i are replaced by sockets in which case the member carries pins on both sides or has pins on one side for co-operating with said sockets and sockets on the other side. Again, the member may have through sockets for receiving pins on both plugs. Fig. 5 shows a modification wherein the shell b has a tapered mouth bl at each end to receive a grommet a, one grommet carrying pins i and the other co-operating sockets n. A member similar to member in Fig. 1 may be secured at the centre of the shell (Fig. 6, not shown). Fig. 7 shows a multi-way connector wherein the shell b is provided with four outlets 1 ... 4 each being shaped to receive a grommet a carrying sockets k for co-operating with pins l on a member j secured at the centre of the shell.
