Abstract

973,415. Two-part connectors. O. DUNKEL. Nov. 23, 1960 [Nov. 25, 1959], No. 40300/60. Heading H2E. In a connector for a multicore cable, each part has a removable contact holder, with a screw-threaded reduced diameter rear section of the same shape for both plug-and-socket contact holders to allow either type to be fitted. The housing 1, Fig. 1 is screw-threaded to receive a contact holder which may carry either plugs as shown above the dotted line at A, or sockets as at B. A complementary contact holder is screwed into a plate C, Fig. 3, and Fig. 4 (not shown). The contacts are mounted in separate insulating blocks 3, 4 which are subsequently cemented together and screening is maintained through the holders by rings 5 and springs 9. Keys 8<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, co-operate with key-ways 8 to ensure correct orientation of the two parts and the parts are held together by internally screwed sleeve 10 which is prevented from loosening by ring 11 and locknut 12. The cable is led out through tube 2 which provides a grip and terminates in a flared anti-kinking mouth.
