Abstract

900,393. Two-part couplings. CATOR, W. S. April 6, 1960 [April 7, 1959], No. 11724/59. Class 38 (1). A plug or socket coupling for coaxial cables includes an electrically conducting connecting part 18 either formed integrally with and at one end of the conducting sleeve 2, or as a separate part which can be fixed relatively to and in electrically conductive contact with the sleeve, the end of the connector remote from the sleeve being adapted to be pushed into the cable between the braided conductor 10 end the core insulating encasement 9, the coupling also including two clamping parts, one of which 20 surrounds the end of the cable, the other 23 being formed integrally with the sleeve or being a separate part which engages the sleeve or the connector 18, the two parts being interengageable or securable together to retain the coupling upon the cable. The connector is preferably cylindrical and has an annular external flange 19 which abuts the cable end, and which is engaged by the clamping part 23. The clamping part 20 is internally screw tapped for gripping the cable. For mounting in a panel P, the tube 22, integral with the part 23, is held in position by a nut 25 on the screwthreaded part of the tube beyond a flange 24.
