March 31, 1925. .Junction boxes.- A gland for attaching rubber or lead sheathed non-circular cable to a box or casing comprises a hollow tapered projection 4 corresponding in shape to the cable that passes beneath and expands the sheathing 11 of the cable and coacts with an annular cap 7 to clamp the sheathing and makes a mechanical and electrical joint. A ring 8 is arranged within the cap 7 and has a tapering internal surface corresponding with that of the projection 4. These surfaces may be stepped. The gland may be formed on or attached to the box &c. 13.
