Abstract
494,510. Cable end sleeves. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES. April 22, 1937, No. 11581. Convention date, April 22, 1936. [Class 36] An end closure for the end of a cable comprises a sleeve 5 surrounding the bared insulation 4 and sealed at one end to the contact or terminal device attached to the bared end of the conductor, the other end of the sleeve being sealed to the sheath of the cable by a device comprising a casing 1 and a bush 6. The bush screws into the casing and presses a collar 3 on the end of the sleeve against packing 2 contained in the casing, and thereby forces the packing against the cable sheath. The casing and bush are formed of moulded insulating-material. A boss 8 having moulded into it a screw-threaded metal bush 9 may be formed on the casing to provide means for attaching the casing to a support. The end of the casing may have a stepped tubular extension 10 or be provided with a stepped reducing piece so that the casing may be employed with cables of different diameters.
