Abstract

500,155. Binding - posts; earth continuity couplings. CROFTON & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., and CROFTON, H. B. April 20, 1938, No. 11884. [Class 38 (i)] A socket or gland for the connection of a cable to a portable machine is furnished with an earthing device for connecting an earth wire of the cable to the casing of the machine. The gland 1 is bored laterally and tapped to receive a screw plug 3 with central projection 3a by which the earth wire 4a is clamped against a washer 2. The washer may rest upon a shoulder 1b formed by a reduction in the diameter of the bore, or if the bore is of uniform diameter and screw threaded throughout, the washer may be screwed into the bore.
