Abstract
608,722. Passing cables through partitions. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., and ROSEN, A. Feb. 28, 1946, No. 6260. [Class 36] An arrangement providing for the sealed entry of a cable 1 into a fluid-tight casing 2 consists of a collar 9 which is integral with the water-proof sheath of the cable and held in position by a sealing plug 6 which is threaded to screw into the cavity 5; the aperture 7 for the entry of the cable has a diameter smaller than that of the cable 1, and the diameter of the cable on the low-pressure side of the collar 9 is reduced, by reduction of the sheath, to a size which permits free passage through the aperture 7. The reduction in size of the waterproof sheath may be sudden (Fig. 1) or gradual (Fig. 2), in which case the size of the conductors 8 may be reduced as well, and the sealing plug 6 and washer 10 constructed as shown.
