Abstract
642,393. Junction boxes. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 22, 1948, No. 13904. [Class 38 (i)] A connection box comprises a square or similar shaped outer box 11 having openings 12 in its sides for receiving fittings such as plugs and lamp housings as shown. Within the box is a two-part insulating body 17 loosely clamping pairs of interconnected sockets 22 (or pins) between its two parts 18, 19, each pair of sockets corresponding with one of said openings 12, and being separated by ribs 28. The plug &c. has a skirt 33 shrouding an insulating block 35 carrying pins 25 (or sockets), said skirt entering in an opening 12. The pins are locked in the sockets by screws 26 carried by the latter and only accessible when the cover 14 of the box has been removed. Intermediate adaptor contacts comprising spigots engaging the sockets and carrying sockets at their other ends may be interposed between the pins and sockets.
