Abstract
535,280. Insulators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd., Feb. 16, 1940, No. 2981. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1939- Addition to 484,441. [Class 36] An insulator for transposing the conductors of telephone and other transmission lines so as to reduce inductive effects therein, comprises a block 10 of glass or other material having integral arms 11 .. 14 in which are moulded wires 19, 20 that cross over one another without touching, the arms being provided with recesses, as 18, to permit movement of the projecting wire-ends which are secured to the conductors proper by means of metal sleeves 34 applied by rolling or compression. The insulator is secured to a cross-arm by a U-bolt 22 engaging grooves on the insulator-top, and is further located by a boss on its base engaging a recess in the cross-arm. In a modification which obviates cutting the conductors, the wires 19, 20 are replaced by tubes through which the conductors can be drawn, Fig. 5 (not shown)
