Abstract
478,768. Cables. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 8, 1937, No. 616. Convention date, May 13, 1936. [Class 36] Insulating discs 20 for spacing the conductors of a concentric conductor cable of the air-space insulated type are formed with a peripheral surface 23 adapted to abut against the inner surface of the outer conductor and an axial aperture 21 to receive the inner conductor. A tapering or converging slot 22 extends between the aperture 21 and the peripheral surface of the disc to permit the discs to be applied sideways to the inner conductor. In the construction shown the slot comprises an inner straight portion 25 of less width than the diameter of the aperture 21 and an outer tapering portion 24, the extremities 29 of which are spaced apart by a distance greater than the diameter of the aperture. In a modified construction the walls of the slot 22 are convex toward each other. The aperture 21 is preferably of slightly less diameter than the inner conductor so that the disc grips the conductor.
