Abstract

[Class 36] To facilitate impregnation of the fibrous insulation of the conductors of a cable comprising two or more pre-spiralled, non - circular solid conductors each insulated by an impregnated body of insulation, each conductor has formed in its surface one or more longitudinal shallow grooves which are so located as not to decrease the minimum radius of curvature of the conductor. The Figure shows a three-core cable having sector-shaped conductors 1 formed with grooves 3, 5 in their flat and curved sides respectively. A cable having four sector-shaped conductors and one having three oval sectioned conductors are also described.
