Abstract
528,677. Cables. SOLUTION TRUST, Ltd. March 2, 1939, No. 6829. Convention date, March 2, 1938. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 18, 1939.] [Class 36] In a cable of the type having a central core separated from a metal sheath by powdered mineral insulating material, the material is calcium oxide or analogous mineral insulation which, on exposure to the atmosphere, retains higher insulation resistance than powdered magnesia in similar circumstances. Numerical values of comparative " limit insulation resistance " are given. The effect is attributed in part to swelling and in part to formation of a carbonate skin, both tending to exclude further ingress of air. A mixture of calcium oxide-and magnesia may be used.
