A cable for use in high-temperature locations has its insulation 12 around the conductor immediately surrounded by a relatively inextensible braided covering 13 of insulating material such as braided glass fibre, the outer surface of the insulation being longitudinally fluted so that spaces 18 are left between the insulation and the covering into which the insulation may expand when heated.
