[Also in Groups VIII and XXXVI] A conductor is wrapped with mica which is surrounded by the insulating covering of the parent Specification. Alternatively the mica wrapping may be sandwiched between two such coverings. The mica wrapping may consist of three or more layers of large thin mica flakes between sheets of glass, fabric, the flakes being so arranged that if the joints between adjacent flakes in one layer coincide with or intersect those of another layer they do not coincide with or intersect those of a third layer. Layers may be bonded with a volatilizable adhesive such as a silicone varnish or polymethylmethacrylate which is volatilized by subsequent heat treatment. Specification 796,419 also is referred to.
