A heating element comprising a coating 2 of conductive silicone rubber applied to a lamina of glass fibre or plastics fabric or film 1 has terminals 3 attached by sewing with either normal or conductive thread or wire 5, 6. The terminals may be covered with an insulating layer secured with the same stitches, or the element may be wrapped round the terminal as shown. The sewing may be such as to form a pocket for the insertion of a stiffener.
