959,215. Electric cables. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 20, 1962 [Sept. 14, 1961], No. 33033/61. Heading H1A. A power cable has a central duct 1 for cooling fluid defined by trapezoidal conductors laid up helically. The fluid is able to pass through the interstices of these trapezoidal conductors to further conductors 3 surrounding them. As shown, these further conductors are circular in cross-section but may also be trapezoidal. A liquid-retaining tube 4 of P.V.C. or P.T.F.E. composition surrounds the conductors but may be omitted if the insulation 5 is such as to retain the cooling fluid without being affected by it. The cable may be provided with an outer screening and/or reinforcing layer of P.V.C. sheath or tape and/or carbon-loaded fabric tape.
