Abstract

846,535. Insulating cable joints. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. July 8, 1958 [July 26, 1957], No. 21827/58. Class 38(1). In making a cable joint, the central steel ropes 2 are welded at 1, the copper conductor 3 is wound round them and they are surrounded by glass fibres 4 arranged parallel to the rope and surrounded by a glass fibre tape or braid 5, the whole being impregnated with an ethyoxyline or polyester resin. The inner cable insulation 6 and the outer insulation 8, which covers the outer cable conductor 7, are then made continuous over the joint.
