Abstract

830,182. Electric cables. SUBMARINE CABLES Ltd. July 8, 1958 [July 29, 1957], No. 24009/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. [Also in Group XXV] The interstices between the strands of a conductor or the strands of a load-carrying conductor heart are filled with a cold-setting epoxy resin. The resin may be modified, e.g. by the addition of an equal part by weight of a polyamide. The epoxy resin may be applied by dipping the opened strands but is preferably injected into the interstices at the strand compacting die on the stranding machine. A submarine cable as in Specification 740,647 with the interstices of its steel core so filled is described.
