Abstract

898,762. Cable joints. PIRELLI S.p.A. March 9, 1960 [May 8, 1959], No. 8253/60. Class 38 (1). A sectionalised casing for a joint in a single core, metal-sheathed power cable comprises a frusto-conical cap 3 and a member formed by joining two parts 4, 5 with thermosetting synthetic resin 7 which is moulded round the overlapping ends 11 of the parts so as to insulate them from one another. As shown, the cable has a metal screen which is continued over the insulation 9 of the joint and sectionalized at 14. The member 4, 5 and cap 3 are soldered together at 12 and the ends of the complete casing are soldered to the cable sheath at 6, 13 with the sectionalizing 7 registering transversely with the sectionalizing 14.
