Abstract

1479653 Electric connectors WARWICKSHIRE WOODWORM & DRY ROT CO Ltd and G D ADAMS E M ADAMS [trading as G & E ADAMS] 29 Jan 1975 [13 Feb 1974] 06431/74 Heading H2E [Also in Division E1] An electro-osmotic damp-proofing system comprises a plurality of platinum-coated electrodes 11 connected together and to a power supply and earthing means by a harness of wire 12, each joint between an electrode and the wire comprising a crimp or butt connector 26 into which are fitted an end of the electrode and stripped ends of wire, and cured encapsulating material moulded around the joint. A sleeve 28 for moulding the encapsulating material is of open-ended, tapered form, with a constricted end 28a which fits around the electrode 11; the sleeve may be of plastics material, and may be left as a protective covering. The encapsulating material is preferably epoxy resin. Any joints in the harness wire may be sealed by heat shrinkable sleeving or tape. The power supply includes a transformer, a rectifier, and an indicator, in the form of a light-emitting diode, protected from overload by a transistor, (Fig. 7, not shown). The electrodes are inserted in holes in a structure, and secured by mortar.
