Abstract
1,177,915. Cable joints and terminations. LACAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 17 April, 1968 [11 Sept., 1967], No.18065/68. Heading H2E. In a cable where there is a break in insulation e.g. at a joint or termination, the resulting interstices formed between the surface of a conductor 12 and the end of the insulation 14 at said place where the insulation terminates are sealed from the ingress of fluids, by applying a sealing compound 16, and surrounding the cable with a tubular sleeve 18 so as to contain the compound 16 and grip a portion of insulation axially beyond it. The sleeve may be made of a heat shrinking plastics material.
