Abstract
1,229,787. Cables. BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd. 30 Aug., 1968 [30 Aug., 1967], No. 39603/67. Heading H1A. The catenary support cable for an aerial power or telecommunications cable is formed at least partly of a plurality of mutually insulated conductors 3 which may serve as telecommunications conductors. The sheaths 2, 5 are integrally connected by a web 6 and may be of metal, rubber or plastics. The support cable may comprise either (a) insulated metal conductors having both high tensile strength and good electrical conductivity (e.g. cadmium copper or copper clad steel) arranged around a polyethylene cord 4; or (b) some insulated components having good electrical and poor mechanical qualities together with some components of good mechanical and poor electrical qualities (e.g. glass or other fibres). The cable may be suspended at intervals by clamps engaging the sheath 5 of the catenary cable.
