Abstract

Connection piece VS to which a counterpart VB fits and to which a cable K can be attached with at least one conductor A and an insulation layer I. For the transmission of information between two pieces of apparatus, for example electrical cables or optical fibre cables are used. For each of these two types of cable a corresponding connection piece is required. In order to design a connection piece VS in such a way that it can transmit both electrical and optical signals it is provided with at least one electrical contact S and an optical contact L for which preferably the same cross-section is selected as for the layer of insulation I on the cable K which is manufactured of optical conductive material. The connection piece is suitable for single-core and multicore cables, coaxial cables, ribbon cables, mains cables, etc. <IMAGE>
