Cores for cables.-A hollow stranded conductor for high tension overhead lines consists of two layers a, b of wire stranded together round a supporting core c, the wire layers a, b and the core c being made of the same metal, e.g. hard copper or bronze, to avoid electrolytic action at the points of contact.
