334,553. Western Electric Co., Ltd., (Bell Telephone Laboratories, Inc.). June 5, 1929. Drawings to Specification. Cores for cables.-A submarine cable conductor consists of a, plurality of discrete electrically conducting strands which are insulated from each other throughout the major portion of their length but which are in electrical connection with each other at intervals in the length of the conductor. The conductor may be formed as described in Specification 332,573 and the strands may be insulated from one another by a coating of copper oxide which is left off at intervals. The insulated strands of the conductor may be connected at intervals by blocks of solder or copper-zinc alloy.
