Abstract

244,249. Railing, M. J., and Quance, F. G. Nov. 24, 1924. Connection fittings.-A fitting for use as a junction box or ceiling rose, comprises a base 1, Fig. 2, having a wall 5, and a cover 9 adapted to cover the wall 5 and be secured to the base by a flanged nut 12 engaging a screw 8 affixed in the base 1. The cables, particularly of the cab tyre sheathed type are pressed into inclined grooves 3 in the base by the cover, and pass through openings in the wall 5 to terminals 6 secured to the base. The base may be made of a moulded fireproof compound that is easily cut with a knife so that the openings in the wall can be enlarged if required. Holes, closed by wafers, can be provided in the base so that wires may enter from the back thereof. When used as a ceiling rose the nut 12 is replaced by a threaded sleeve 14, Fig. 3, provided with a screw cap 15, the outgoing leads being gripped at 17 by the cover.
