A grommet for effecting a seal with cables 11, 12 of different diameters comprises a ring with a groove 2 to engage a partition 9, and an integral sleeve of resilient material, tapered towards its closed end 5. Upon insertion of a cable, a weakened area 6 in broken and the walls 7 form a seal with the cable. A grommet may be fitted in a partition to allow an additional cable to be passed through subsequently without the need for a further aperture to be cut.
