Abstract

1,010,372. Mechanical couplings for cable armouring and covering; carrying conductors through partitions. BRITISH ENGINES Ltd. Nov. 1, 1963 [Nov. 16, 1962], No. 43360/62. Heading H2E. A cable gland comprises an inner member 10, an outer member 11, and nut 12, ferrule 13 and a compressible bush 14, the outer member 11 having an internal screw-thread which receives an external screw-thread of member 10, and an internal thread on end-nut 12 engaging an external thread on member 11, the end-nut trapping the ferrule 13, so that on tightening end-nut 12 on to outer member 11 the bush is compressed on to the cable between ferrule 13 and the bevelled end of member 11. The top thread of end-nut 12 is distorted to prevent complete separation of the gland. The cable armouring is trapped between tapered sections of members 10 and 11.
