Abstract
1,204,767. Cable glands and terminations. HAWKE CABLE GLANDS Ltd. 23 July, 1969 [3 Oct., 1968], No. 46956/68. Heading H2E. A sealing chamber around a cable with its sheathing 15 cut back comprises a barrel 5 having, internal threads 6 engaging an inlet member 9 forming a cable gland, and a circumferential projection 7 abutted by a draw nut 21 screwed on the outlet member 17. A closure disc 26 with spaced apertures for the conductors 16 of the cable retains a thermoplastic insulant, introduced through screwhole 28, within the barrel. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the sealing washer 23 of Fig. 1 is replaced by an 0-ring (34), and the flange 7 is replaced by a circlip (32), both being fitted in respective circumferential grooves in the barrel. The cable gland includes a sealing washer 13 and, a draw nut 12 which may be associated with a clamping arrangement for wire armour between cable sheaths, the arrangement including an internally tapered sleeve and an externally tapered nose on the inlet member 9.
