Abstract
1327305 Carrying conductors into casings HAWKE CABLE GLANDS Ltd 15 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 8364/71 Heading H2E A sealing chamber comprises a barrel 10 adapted at one end 28 for connection to a conduit or cable sheath, a hollow outlet member 16 which spigotally receives the other end of the barrel and a sleeve 22 to secure the barrel to the outlet member; the barrel being closed at one or both ends by barriers 48. As shown, the end 28 has an internally threaded counterbore receiving the externally-threaded part 30 of a conduit 32 or cable gland (not shown). The barrel is secured to the outlet member by sleeve 22 which is tightened against a circlip 18. A sealing ring is provided between sleeve 22 and the barrel 10, and the outlet member is provided with a thread 26. Barriers 34 and 36 are in the form of cylinders closed at one end and having an outwardly projecting flange at the other. Barrier 34 fits within the chamber, its flange held between the surface 42 of the counterbore 14 and end 40 of the chamber; barrier 36 fits within the conduit with its flange held between the ends of the tube and conduit. A hole 52 may be provided in the chamber, which may be filled with a sealing compound 56.
