Abstract

The pressure vessel wall has a screwed plug (2) inserted in the wall. The bore of the plug is stepped so that the thicker plug is in the vessel wall. The plug is filled with two joints (9,10) which are split longitudinally and flanged at one end. The joints are kept apart by an 'O' ring (11) or some packing rings. The assembly is held together by a screwed cap (19) which closes in on the flange (13) of the outer joint. The cable end (7) can be inserted through the plug before the packing is introduced.
