Abstract

1437338 Cable termination gland BICC Ltd 18 Oct 1973 [19 Oct 1972] 48282/72 Heading H2E A tapered elastomeric (e.g. neoprene) shroud 7 on a cable terminating gland to seal impermeably the cable armouring 4 has, to assist fitting, the narrow end distended by a rigid, preferably frangible, short-tube 11 (e.g. of cardboard) removed after assembly. If not frangible the tube is split. The shroud is fixed either to ring 6 (Fig. 2, not shown) or to cap nut 10 and is clamped by forced-on ferrule 9 or by adhesive. Armouring 4 is clamped in the conical space 5 between the gland body 1 and ring 6.
